Why I Engineered a Built-In Pump Air Cushion: Solving the Hidden Crisis of Prolonged Sitting

For years, the office chair industry has been obsessed with “ergonomics.” We’ve seen mesh backs, lumbar supports, and standing desks. Yet, there remains a persistent, silent discomfort that affects millions of professionals daily: static pressure points.
As the founder of AJ Air Cushion, I spent years observing how traditional memory foam and gel cushions eventually bottom out or trap heat, leading to numbness and spinal fatigue. Most seat cushions are “passive.” Whether it’s high-density foam or liquid gel, they react to your weight by compressing. One of the biggest hurdles for air cushions has always been the inflation process. No executive wants to carry a manual pump to a meeting, and inflating a medical-grade cushion by mouth in a public office is hardly professional.
